i had the idea for this blog one day while riding around humboldt park. well, let me be more specific - i had the idea for this blog tonight while riding around humboldt park. i was riding along, enjoying the chilly night and my fantastic bike, when i realized that this was only the third time i’d ever been in the park itself. and i’ve lived in logan square for two years! as i thought back on my pattern of life here in chicago over the past couple years, i realized that i really don’t know anything about the city i live in. i go to work, i come home, i go back to work. boring. what’s the point of living somewhere awesome if you never experience it? thus, a project was born!
here’s the rules of the game, subject to change, as these things tend to be:
1. i’ll go one new place each day in chicago, and post a picture (s) of it here.
2. this place must be accessed only by bike
3. the only things i’ll take are my keys, phone (for pictures) and $5 in cash (which means, seeing as i won’t take a bag, this will probably go towards 1 beer or 1, maybe 2 ice creams)
4. when possible, i will include information on the historical relevancy of the place - after all, the name of this blog IS the white city
5. i am totally open to submissions for ideas of places to go
some days, i’ll go somewhere awesome - other days, maybe not. the overall goal here is to bring more meaning to my life here in chicago, and to ride every day.
